The heating function in the air conditioner in most split systems automatically activates the defrost mode of the outdoor unit. The heat exchanger temperature control sensor sends a signal to the air conditioning control system when a layer of ice forms on the outdoor unit. During defrosting, the split system calms down for a while and may seem to work incorrectly, has broken. However, this is not the case - the air conditioner starts to work for cooling, but the fan turns off and air is not supplied to the room, while the heat exchanger heats up and gets rid of ice.
